Three brand videos for Girlguiding

Girlguiding is changing. Over the next three years, the activity programmes for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and The Senior Section will be brought up to date to match the needs of girls today. It’s a really big deal and important that guiding members feel inspired and informed throughout the process, as their feedback will help determine the shape of things to come.

With this in mind, we were asked to create three short videos – one for adult members, one for younger girls (aged 5-10) and one for members of The Senior Section (aged 14-25) – to explain the changes as work begins.

There was already a theme – taking Girlguiding on a journey – so for two of the videos we used the idea of thumbing through a travel journal, with sticky notes, Polaroid-style photos and a friendly hand-drawn typeface. For the third video, aimed at The Senior Section, we chose a horizontal scrolling narrative, which felt more appropriate for this audience.

The three videos are snappy and informative in a lighthearted way, with a charming mix of photography, props and animation that bring to life the story so far.

They all feature illustrations by Toby Triumph, who produced some versatile hand-drawn text and imagery that work well in the videos as well as the print magazine, guiding.
