The challenge
P&O Cruises wanted a premium stills and video brand shoot to authentically capture the joy of family cruise holidays with high-quality content that would showcase real moments of fun, relaxation, and togetherness on board. Historically, P&O Cruises would engage their ad agency for a ‘family’ brand shoot on such a grand scale.
The project required careful coordination of a 46-person cast and crew, including professional model families and young extras. Adding to the complexity, the shoot had to take place on two working cruise ships in Southampton, during their turnaround days. With only eight-hour shoot windows on each ship, we had to ensure precision planning, seamless execution, and a contingency strategy for unpredictable weather.

Our solution
To bring P&O Cruises’ vision to life, we focused on three key areas:
- Creative team: we assembled a top-tier team, led by photographer Gareth Iwan Jones, supported by Josh Adam Jones, and partnered with Stepping Stone for video production, directed by Nick Tree. Our social media team was also on-site to capture behind-the-scenes moments.
- Logistics & locations: we proposed an innovative back-to-back shooting schedule across two ships. This meant securing key locations in advance, preparing for rapid transitions, and ensuring smooth coordination among photographers, videographers, stylists, and models.
Execution: equipped with detailed shoot plans, call sheets, walkie-talkies, and an extensive wardrobe, our team worked efficiently to capture a diverse range of onboard experiences.
The results
- 323 premium images, including 51 hero brand shots
- High-quality video content for multi-channel use
- Flawless coordination, ensuring smooth execution despite time constraints
- Authentic, engaging visuals reflecting the warmth and excitement of a family cruise
Through meticulous planning, creativity, and teamwork, we delivered compelling assets that brought P&O Cruises’ brand story to life.
