Sunday and The Royal Marsden: partners for 15 years

Work
|

We’ve been working with the world-leading cancer centre since 2010 and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together

The first-ever iPad. The Eyjafjallajökull ash cloud. A coalition government. Spain winning the men’s World Cup in South Africa. Inception. And the launch of an obscure photo-sharing app named Instagram.

Yes, 2010 was memorable for lots of reasons. But at Sunday, we remember it as the year we published our first issue of RM, the quarterly hospital magazine for staff and patients of The Royal Marsden.

Fifteen years on, we’re still working together, making The Royal Marsden one of our longest-standing clients.

All told, we’ve published 60 issues of RM, plus 41 issues of Private Care, which highlights The Royal Marsden’s service for private patients, and 28 issues of Progress, which champions the fundraising efforts of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity – all on a not-for-profit basis.

As a globally renowned cancer centre specialising in research, diagnosis, treatment, care and education, The Royal Marsden has had plenty to talk about over the past decade and a half.

New clinical and research facilities such as the Oak Cancer Centre and the NIHR Centre for Molecular Pathology. Cutting-edge equipment including surgical robots and precision radiotherapy machines. Groundbreaking research successes in immunotherapy, surgery and drug development. And compelling stories of patients as they navigate their cancer journeys.

We’ve also covered nine royal visits, from The Prince and Princess of Wales opening the Oak Cancer Centre for Children and Young People in 2011, to The Princess’s poignant return to the hospital earlier this year following her own treatment for cancer.

But it’s the stunning bespoke photography we shoot for every issue that elevates these stories, so they leap off the page.

Whether we’re photographing surgeons in theatre while they perform lifesaving operations, or nurses as they care for patients on their wards, every shot captures the expertise, intelligence and warmth of the staff who dedicate themselves to helping patients.

However, organising photoshoots in a busy working hospital can be challenging. Patient wellbeing is, of course, paramount and the expert oncologists we feature arguably have more important things to do than posing for a portrait. But with 15 years’ worth of shoots under our belt, we like to think we’ve got it down to a tee.

Our commitment to supporting The Royal Marsden’s work doesn’t stop when we clock off, either. We’re fundraising fiends: we take part in The Banham Marsden March every year and hold annual bake sales, raising tens of thousands of pounds for the charity.

‘Life demands excellence’ is the pledge of The Royal Marsden and excellence is what we hope we’ve consistently delivered for the past 15 years – and counting.

Would you like to support us again this year? Please donate via our 2025 Marsden March fundraising page. Thank you!
